First up is Tim Bowles of The Farm Camp. We’ve asked him a few questions, and go and check out his website if you ever need a place to stay in Bath!
Tim Bowles from The Farm Camp near Bath. I'm 5th generation on the family farm near Bath. A failed farmer, though (glamping is more my gig) as I have no patience for Dad's precious sheep but I will help out when needed. I married my wife Jojo last year who I met at uni. She's also my creative consultant and been a huge support over the years. I most enjoy hanging out with her and our dog Waddy, our legendary cocker spaniel. We're a bit obsessed.
I started it back in 2013, after moving back to the family farm from Hong Kong. Bit of a contrast in environments but I saw my future being back in the west country! It has been a rollercoaster ride, but the best journey ever. Fancied more of an outdoors, hands-on and creative life and business. And that I do have now. Its also given me a future on the farm which was not so attractive in traditional farming.
Planning! It took me 2.5 years to get it sorted. Hard work, but I've learnt a lot in the process. Any newbies, get a consultant involved or avoid the process altogether if possible!
The outdoors lifestyle and hearing my guest's feedback on how much fun they've had - it warms the soul!
My dog, Waddy will sing with me when I make certain noises. Last Christmas, I posted a video on Instagram of us in the car singing Jingle bells and it went viral - hit over 150,000 views! Waddy's kind of a big deal, but he remains modest and not planning any tours at the moment. Ever since, when I catch up with people, they all want to know how Waddy is and when the next video is coming out. Will have to get practising!
