Recommendations: 5 metre Ultimate Bell Tent

Hi there,

just thought we would send you some photos of our first outing in our new 5m ultimate bell tent over the royal wedding weekend with my wife's 1968 Vw camper and my 1972 Vw pickup. We were surrounded by over 150 great vintage VWs and the bell tent was the biggest attraction on the site, we must have shown over 200 people around it.

We love the tent, it is easy to put up, the stove works great and as you can see, my wife has filled it with all the things to make it a home from home.

Hi Guys,

I don't often do this but just thought would write and let you know how happy we are with our new Bell tent. Its the 5m ultimate and its fantastic. We have used it a couple of time now, the kids love it, its really easy to put up (if a little heavy) and has a really lovely nice feel. This weekend we went camping as a group down to mid Wales just outside Machynlleth. This was the first time the tent had seen any rain at all and only the third time we have pitched it. After continuous downpour for over 24hrs causing widespread flooding throughout the area, gale force winds and 2 off our groups conventional tents collapsing the bell tent was absolutely fine. We had a slight leak around the A frame which was easily wiped with a towel, and that was it! The groundsheet was invaluable, completely watertight even when we had the water level rising up through the ground during the second night. All the kids piled in to keep warm and the tent was still a lovely dry space despite the chaos being caused by the weather. Apart from a small 2 man expedition tent it was literally the last dry space under canvas on the campsite.

Here are a few photos that I thought i would send to you, I'v only been introdced to Bell Tens for the last 5 months by my partner Steve who has had one for years and they are great. We have been camping about 5 times already this year and have started a blog www.lifeundercanvas.wordpress.com.

Our Scout Group recently received a donation to supplement the standard ridge tents we have been using for our Cub Pack and Scout Troop.

I spent some time researching what to buy, and, remembering how much more room there is in a traditional bell tent, finally settled on buying two 5-metre Ultimate tents from you. We first used them at the beginning of May for a Cub Camp, and have today returned from the four-day Somerset ScoutFest – a festival of fun and activity for all ages in Scouting from across the County.

I have nothing but praise for the whole experience, from the exemplary service we received from your Company to the product itself which has far exceeded our expectations. We learned from our first use of the tents that the Malu awning is a must to provide a sheltered “porch” under which the Cubs can leave their muddy footwear, amongst other things, but these were ordered and delivered in ample time for this weekend's event. To have two tents with near twice the capacity of our 13x8ft ridge tents (and at less than half the price!) was a huge advantage, and we could not fault the manufacturing quality, not least the zips (always vulnerable with over-eager Cubs). What is more, the tents were more than a match for the 40mph-plus winds we had last night and Saturday's torrential rain. I was concerned that that the weather might have given us problems, but far from it, unless you count the fact that the strongest gusts managed to lift the awning off the spike of the a-frame above the door (easily put back in place). We are certainly looking forward to many years of use.

We had just one very small quibble, based, I imagine, on the specific way that Scouts and Cubs tend to use their tent (in and out continuously, and often in the dark). With a single guy line from the top of the door, It is surprisingly easy to tangle with it, and we made the relatively simple modification of doubling up the cords and pegging them out in an inverted V.

And as for the reaction from other Scout Groups this weekend – frankly, I wish I had the franchise for marketing your product, because I could have sold seven or eight of them in the course of the four days!

To sum up, I really can not speak too highly of a product which has more than met our demanding requirements – and kept our Group Treasurer happy at the same time!

That week was not warm at all,

the days were cloudy, which tended to clear towards the evening, leaving the nights cold. The stove became a godsend, for which my wife and three dogs are very grateful. The chandelier and fairy lights make it warmer still. We love our huge tent, but it is a canvas barn, which takes some heating. We did hope it would rain, in order to shrink the seams and waterproof the tent, but all we got was a light smattering on Thursday, which is when the Malu came in handy, enabling me to sit outside, smoking my pipe, whilst Lynette and the hounds sacked out inside with the stove going full chat. We like big tents, not least because we have 3 stupidly large dogs, but having a marquee gives one that light airy spaciousness on rainy days, when the hounds just curl up on their beds (my dogs don't do wet), and we sit and read The Times until the day bally well cheers up! Many thanks for allowing us to buy your fine products, because they have enriched our lives (is that too much? 3 g&ts...)

wow our 5m bell tent was fab, took it out last weekend to shelsley walsh speed hillclimb. within 10 mins of us setting it up and getting the wine out we had about 15 people come over to investigate, this continued all over the weekend. the tent, and the vibe we created was a real people magnet. met so many new people. what was also very funny was that people were ditching their £80,000 american motor homes to come and sit with us. All to one side, best tent we have ever had plus the malu awning and top end customer service.

Hi all at BellTentUK,

Just a quick note to say thank you for the fantastic service you have provided. The replacement mat arrived the next day. We have just comeback from our first weekend away in our 5m Ultimate Bell Tent - it was perfect. As novices to camping (and bell tents), we were surprised just how easy it was to erect. We think we might soon challenge your 10 minute record!!! We had plenty of room and it felt very secure, it also looked lovely next to the lake where we pitched. The inner tent gave additional privacy when needed, and the rug made it feel even more homely. We are now all looking forward to our next camping trip... a week in Wales in June, and personalizing & accessorizing the tent for some 'camping with soul'.
