5 metre diameter Deluxe Bell Tent with a heavy-duty integrated groundsheet

+ £10 insured shipping to mainland UK

WELCOME TO THE 5 METRE DELUXE BELL TENT

The Deluxe style Bell Tent is suitable for adventurous campers – the integrated, heavy-duty groundsheet offers more security in wet weather and better bug protection. We use our Deluxe Bell Tents for our rentals at Hotel Bell Tent for their increased protection against the elements, and they work brilliantly. The cotton canvas on all our tents is the same but the 5m Deluxe is heavier than the 5m Standard due to the upgraded, heavy-duty groundsheet which cannot be detached from the canvas. If you particularly like the feature of rolling up the side walls go for the Standard Bell Tent or the Ultimate Bell Tent.

This 5 metre Bell Tent comfortably fits 4 double air mattresses (if you fancy a love in, or for a family) but if you just go for the one it's like a palace in there. Think the same area as a double car garage. A Volvo estate is 5 metres long so if there was no centre pole you could get one of those and two Smart cars either side.

It is a MASSIVE tent so have a reality check before saying "I want that one!" because the 4 metre is perfect for most people, and with the guy ropes you are looking at a 7 metre diameter footprint - make sure you get to the festival early to bag a big enough space!

We have several happy customers who live full time in these Deluxe tents so 'it’s not just for Christmas'!

Over the years our Bell Tents have lots of clever little upgrades

We’ve listened to the feedback from our buyers, tweaked our design, and added options like an Inner Tent. All of our Bell Tents now have the fittings to add the optional Inner Tent with the added bonus of having loops and hoops including a loop on the centre pole that can be used to hang anything you fancy. We've also improved the A-frame's footing and redesigned the door flap so you can flatten it down in good weather to avoid tripping.

NEW THICKER POLE UPGRADE - see Pole Upgrade tab above for information on our thicker central pole!

This upgrade and tripling of the cost of raw cotton has meant we have had to slightly rise our prices for the 2013 season but we have decided to keep improving the high quality rather than cut corners to keep the price the same.

(See our Bell Tent accessories)

We thoroughly recommend our stunning rustic Tealight Chandeliers which give off both light and warmth. In our experience this is the best way to light up a Bell Tent - everyone looks gorgeous in candle light and they create a very romantic atmosphere. They hang from the centre pole and can be hoisted higher out of little ones reach or lower to make the most of the light and surprising amount of warmth (can't be used at the same time as Inner Tent)

What makes it Deluxe?

The difference between the 5 metre Standard and the 5 metre Deluxe is that you get the added resistance to flooding with the groundsheet being permanently connected to the tent walls, however you do lose the ability to roll the sides up on hot days. The Deluxe groundsheet is also a lot thicker (540g/m² PVC) and heavier - the Deluxe weighs 10kg more and this difference is all groundsheet as the cotton canvas is the same for all our tents. If you look at the Features tab above you can see how the groundsheet is attached to the walls.

We seriously recommend that you have a good think about how you are going to use your Bell Tent and ask yourself is it really necessary to spend the extra money on the Deluxe? Remember that one of the unique selling points of a Bell Tent is to be able to raise the sides and let the breeze through on a hot day and you can't do that with with a Deluxe tent.

If you are planning on using the tent in really wet conditions go for the Deluxe or Ultimate, otherwise consider the cheaper option!

Something to think about - do you think you are the type of camper who will want the option of using an Inner Tent?

We now offer an optional 5m Inner Tent with a zippable divider that gives you the best of both worlds for £116 + £6 shipping to mainland UK.

Our Inner Tents take up the half of the tent opposite the door to create a separate insulated and bug-proof bedroom and with the zippable divider you have the choice of one large bedroom area, or two smaller ones. Even when divided, each quarter will comfortably fit a queensize mattress, or two large singles. So, if you are buying a Bell Tent with the intention of putting an Inner Tent in it you might want to consider the size of Bell Tent you’re after. The other thing to consider is not being able to use our Tealight Chandelier at the same time as an Inner Tent as they both need the same space around the central pole.

Comes with everything you need (click on tabs above for more info):

  • Tent
  • Inner Tent fixings
  • Guy ropes
  • Built-in, heavy-duty, integral groundsheet
  • Spring-loaded metal tent poles
  • Pegs for both tent and groundsheet
  • Spare pegs and pole springs
  • Matching cotton canvas carry bag, with shoulder straps
  • Great customer support
  • Dowloadable photographic step-by-step instructions

In a little attempt to save some trees and resources we no longer include paper instructions with our tents - we have seen too many sets of instructions blowing past at too many festivals...Click below to download the PDF instruction and if possible familiarize yourself with them on screen (they are pretty logical and only usually require one read) before going camping and only print them off if you really need to.

The tents come with insured shipping and a 12 month manufacturer's guarantee against defects
Please note: this guarantee covers manufacturing issues (such as stitching and water-proofing), it is not an insurance policy against damage caused by wear and tear or adverse weather conditions, such as high wind. Be aware that our tents are not designed for extreme weather conditions. Spare parts are also available.

Our canvas is now tested to European BS5852 standards - see Features tab for more information!

As you can see from the pictures with a bit of effort you can create your own vibe and be the envy of everyone in naff modern tents with no soul.

Bell Tents are great for:

  • Camping
  • Festivals
  • Garden chill out
  • Back-up bedroom (banish the in-laws to the garden!)
  • Outside summer playroom
  • Weddings (the ultimate honeymoon suite)
We also recommend you check you have received all the elements of your purchase when it arrives and familiarise yourself with it before you are standing in a field at the beginning of a 2 week camping holiday. If for some reason a element is missing we can rush one to you but that won't be much good if you're trying to sleep in it that night!!

Features:

Material is treated to be water resistant for up to 60 weeks of constant use. You can then re-proof the tent yourself, from around £25, or send it off to be professionally cleaned and re-proofed at www.cleanyourtent.com. It is also UV and mould-resistant (please note, no canvas is entirely mould-proof, so we strongly recommend that you take it down every now and then to dry it out completely when it has been up for a while, especially if it's become wet after rain)

European tested to BS5852:

Unlike many of the copies out there, our tents are European tested to BS5852 standards. This is the 'cigarette test' which shows that the tent will not ignite when burnt by the likes of a cigarette. If burnt with the likes of a gas burner it takes an average of five seconds to ignite and will continue to burn but will not drip 'napalm'  like polyester tents. If you require a more fire-resistant tent consider going for our Bell Tent Pro option - see the Why Go Pro tab above.
  • Lightweight but strong (285g/m²), high quality, 100% cotton canvas
  • Weighs 31.5kg. This is a serious bit of kit so you don't want to be carrying it too far
  • Heavy-duty, 540g/m² waterproof, integral groundsheet that comes up the side creating a waterproof 'bath'

  • Groundsheet at doorways folds flat when open to stop tripping and can be clipped into up position to protect against flooding

  • Corners of doors have a flap that allows power cables into the tent without having to make a hole or affect flood proofing
  • Door can be 'locked' by padlocking the three door zips together
  • All of our Bell Tents have all the loops and attachments to fit one of our Inner Tents should you decide you want to add one
  • Has a metal hoop on central pole, great for hanging things from
  • All packs down into matching canvas bag small enough to go on the back of a Smart car (approx 100x45x45cm)
  • Fabulous colour - no bright white or muticoloured nightmares - giving a warm and gentle vibe inside (please note, colour may vary slightly from photographs, and from year to year)
  • Material is treated to be water resistant for up to 60 weeks of constant use. You can then re-proof the tent yourself, from around £25, or send it off to be professionally cleaned and re-proofed at www.cleanyourtent.com. It is also UV and mould-resistant (Please note, no canvas is entirely mould-proof, so we strongly recommend that you take it down every now and then to dry it out completely when it has been up for a while, especially if it's become wet after rain. If you do have to pack it away wet, make sure you get it out within 24 hours to dry it out properly)
  • A-frame covered entrance. Unlike some Bell Tents this has an A-frame entrance which creates a porch to stop the rain coming in. Bell Tents without this feature look more like a Tipi and can let the rain in and leak all the way up the entrance flap, ie. to the middle of the tent!
  • Takes two people around nine minutes to erect...okay, it took us four goes to get it that fast!
  • Can be erected by one person in around 13 minutes
  • Ideal for those non-fair-weather campers, who like to get out and about come rain or shine
  • Beautifully made from high quality materials
  • 4 unzippable windows/air vents, complete with tightly meshed mosquito netting, which also stops midges!

  • Heavy-duty, zippable front door for fast access
  • Updated A-frame footing in groundsheet to stop slippage
  • Can be fitted with our specially designed Bell Tent UK Stove

NEW THICKER POLE UPGRADE

We’ve upgraded the 5m main pole from 28mm to 32mm as this pole is the highest stress point in a Bell Tent.

Not only is the diameter bigger (the old pole actually fits into the new one!) but the pipe is thicker and heavier making it the same spec as our 3.5 metre high Tipi Pole.

This stronger and heavier pole weighs a kilo, making the whole tent slightly heavier.
