6 metre diameter Emperor Bell Tent with separate lightweight groundsheet

The Emperor® Bell Tent cometh! All 6 glorious metres of it.

Welcome to the pleasure dome! This tent is the ultimate Glamping tent, nothing comes close. Hotel Bell Tent used the Emperor® Bell Tent for its top of the range, uber-boutique camping at Vintage Festival at Goodwood and Serenata Classical Music Festival in 2010, and we now sell them! We've taken our classic Bell Tent, cut it down the middle and added a crossbar to create a twin-poled palace. We've then raised the roof to 3m and have put an A-frame at either end to maximise the headroom throughout the tent.

As well as the main door in the middle, this copyrighted design has a secondary side door which is great for creating a through-breeze and also for connecting the Emperor® to a Bell Tent - perfect if you want to create an amazing, connected bedroom and living room space. Now that’s Glamping! It’s also great for connecting to your wagon using one of our Malu awnings so you still have a clear front door but all the amenities on tap. Because the Standard Emperor® Bell Tent has a separate, lightweight groundsheet like our Standard Bell Tent it’s still light enough to easily transport, and you can roll the walls up on a scorching afternoon to create a breezy chill out area or party pad.

Tea Light Chandeliers

We thoroughly recommend our stunning rustic Tealight Chandeliers which give off both light and warmth. In our experience this is the best way to light up a Bell Tent - everyone looks gorgeous in candle light and they create a very romantic atmosphere. They hang from the centre pole and can be hoisted higher out of little ones' reach or lower to make the most of the light and surprising amount of warmth.

(also see our Bell Tent accessories)

Something to think about - do you think you are the type of camper who will want the option of using an Inner Tent?

Due to demand, our Emperor Tents now have the fittings for an Inner Tent at both ends. Obviously, one of those ends is the second doorway, so if you put an Inner Tent there you block it, but most people are only interested in putting an Inner Tent in at one end and leaving the rest of the tent open. Our Inner Tents create a separate insulated and bug-proof bedroom, which will comfortably fit a queensize mattress, or two large singles. The other thing to consider is not being able to use our Tealight Chandelier on the same pole as an Inner Tent as they both need the same space around that pole.

Comes with everything you need:

  • Tent
  • Guy ropes
  • Groundsheet
  • Spring-loaded, metal tent poles
  • Pegs for both tent and groundsheet
  • Spare pegs and pole springs
  • Matching cotton canvas carry bags with shoulder strap
  • Great customer support
  • Insured shipping and 12 month manufacturer's guarantee against defects
  • Downloadable photographic step-by-step instructions

The tent comes in two canvas bags, with a total wight of 26kg for the tent and groundsheet, and 15kg for the poles.

The Emperor® is a truly MASSIVE tent so think very hard before saying "I want that one!"
It needs at least a metre for its guy ropes so you’re looking at a 8m by 6m footprint (get to the festival early!) As you can see from the pictures with a bit of effort you can create your own vibe and be the envy of everyone in naff modern tents with no soul.

Emperor Tents are great for:

  • Camping
  • Festivals
  • Garden chill out/party pad (walls up or down)
  • Back-up bedroon (banish the in-laws to the garden!)
  • Outside summer playroom (walls up or down)
  • Weddings (ultimate honeymoon suite)

You'll have one of the most stunning tents around.

In a little attempt to save some trees and resources we no longer include paper instructions with our tents - we have seen too many sets of instructions blowing past at too many festivals... Click below to download the instruction PDF and if possible familiarise yourself with them on screen (they are pretty logical and only usually require one read) before going camping and only print them off if you really need to.

The tents come with insured shipping and a 12 month manufacturer's guarantee against defects

Please note: this guarantee covers manufacturing issues (such as stitching and water-proofing), it is not an insurance policy against damage caused by wear and tear or adverse weather conditions, such as high wind. Be aware that our tents are not designed for extreme weather conditions. Spare parts are also available.

Our canvas is now tested to European BS5852 standards - see Features tab for more information!

We also recommend you check you have received all the elements of your purchase when it arrives and familiarise yourself with it before you are standing in a field at the beginning of a 2 week camping holiday. If for some reason a element is missing we can rush one to you but that won't be much good if you're trying to sleep in it that night!!

Material is treated to be water resistant for up to 60 weeks of constant use.

You can then re-proof the tent yourself, from around £25. It is also UV and mould-resistant (please note, no canvas is entirely mould-proof, so we strongly recommend that you take it down every now and then to dry it out completely when it has been up for a while, especially if it's become wet after rain)

European tested to BS5852:

Unlike many of the copies out there, our tents are European tested to BS5852 standards. This is the 'cigarette test' which shows that the tent will not ignite when burnt by the likes of a cigarette. If burnt with the likes of a gas burner it takes an average of five seconds to ignite and will continue to burn but will not drip 'napalm'  like polyester tents.
  • A huge 6m wide by 4m deep
  • Will sleep up to 12 easily, or hold up to 20 sitting around
  • The definitive Glamping tent
  • Sides roll up on hot days to let the breeze through (this is the unique selling point of a Bell Tent - just think, no more 'melting' at festivals!)
  • Lightweight but strong 285gsm, high quality, 100% unbleached cotton canvas - the perfect balance between durability and portability
  • Only weighs a total of 41kg (tent, poles, pegs, bag and separate groundsheet)
  • Comes in two matching canvas bags with shoulder straps, one for the canvas and groundsheet (26kg, 90x35x35cm) and one for the poles and pegs (15kg, 90x15x15cm)
  • Small enough to easily go into the back of a small car
  • Sturdy construction (two metal poles with a thick cross bar and three A-frames)
  • Fabulous unbleached colour - no bright white or multicoloured nightmares - creating an iconic silhouette, and giving a warm and gentle vibe inside (please note, colour may vary very slighlty from pictures, and from year to year)
  • Material is treated to be water resistant for up to 60 weeks of constant use. You can then re-proof the tent yourself, from around £25. (Please note, no canvas is entirely mould-proof, so we strongly recommend that you take it down every now and then to dry it out completely when it has been up for a while, especially if it's become wet after rain. If you do have to pack it away wet, make sure you get it out within 24 hours to dry it out properly)
  • A-frame covered entrances. Unlike some Bell Tents this has A-frame entrances which create porches to stop the rain coming in. Tents without this feature can let the rain in and leak all the way up the entrance flap ie. to the middle of the tent!
  • Takes two people around 15 minutes to erect
  • Can be erected by one, strong person in around 22 minutes
  • Waterproof groundsheet (140gsm) made to measure and is pegged down to stop it being blown about
  • The walls have a 20cm, colour-matched rubber flap that tucks under the groundsheet to create and wind / rain-resistant seal
  • Beautifully made from high quality materials
  • Six zippable half moon windows / air vents on the walls, complete with tightly meshed mosquito netting, which also stops midges!
  • 2 large doors to allow breeze through without having to roll up the walls
  • Side door ideal for connection to vehicle or other tent / structure
  • Easily mate up the side door with the door of one of our 5m Bell Tents to create an annex or private separate bedroom off the main tent
  • Heavy-duty, zippable doors for fast access and a secure seal
  • Please note: this tent now has fittings for an Inner Tent
  • Can be fitted with our specially designed Bell Tent UK, or other, stove

Emperor Suite, anyone?

Why not create the Ultimate Glamping tent by connecting an Emperor® and 5m Bell Tent? We're talking a 9m long monster with large Emperor® living area and spacious 5m boudoir bedroom.

The 5m Bell Tent A-frame is slightly smaller than the Emperor® A-frame and so fits inside it.

Both tents have a 10cm overhang on the roof, there is an overlap which helps to create a seal between the two doorways. This also means that both doors can still be zipped up at night, or in a downpour, to avoid leaks.

The guy rope at the centre of the 5m Bell Tent A-frame can be tied to the closest upright pole in the Emperor®, pulling the two tents together and stopping the A-frames from parting.

Above is the view from the 'bedroom'. through to the 'living room'.
